Mere Dad Ki Maruti comes from Y Films, a subsidiary of Yash Raj Films who have come out with films like Luv ka the End & Mujhse Fraandship Karoge which did quite well at the box office. Y Films has come to known for their 'trendy' and youthful films with really peppy soundtracks. MDKM is no different. There are couple of tracks that have found 'sync' with the audience.
Mere Dad Ki Maruti features Saqib Saleem (Mujhse Fraandship Karoge fame) and Rhea Chakraborty aka MTV's VJ Rhea in lead roles. This is VJ Rhea's bollywood debut and she looks impressive as Jasleen, the hot chick in college who's craved by everyone! Jasleen considers herself a 'desi Shakira' and shows off quite a lot. The plot of MDKM is quite straightforward. A Wedding, A lost Maruti car and a really really angry Dad. Yup, you guessed right; Saqib had sneaked his dad's car out to impress Jasleen. ;) #how.sweet!

As with most Yash Raj productions, the online promotion has been extensive. The visibility the film has garnered for itself is huge. Youtube abuzz with promo videos of the film and at over 23 lakh hits, it has blown away the competition; ie. 3G - Killer Connection and Jolly LLB. The reach has mainly been due to the music of the film. "Punjabiyaan Di Battery" composed by Sachin feat. Mika & Honey Singh is a smash hit! Main Senti Hoon, Haay! have also raked in the views, all thanks to the promotion blitzkrieg.

True Happiness
The Happiness factor for Mere Dad Ki Maruti is 72/100 which isnt very impressive. It might just be a one time watch and that too mainly for cute and sexy Vj Rhea! But then again, there's more to watching a film at the theater. If you like the genres of the earlier 2 YFilms (Luv ka the End & Mujhse Fraandship Karoge) you may want to give this one a try as well. As for others, watch it on DVDs in a month or so.
